Winnipeg International Jewish Film Festival Set to Hit the Big Screen

April 17, 2022

WINNIPEG, MB – Get ready movie lovers!

The Rady JCC is thrilled to announce the return of the Winnipeg International Jewish Film Festival (WIJFF), proudly presented by The Asper Foundation with support from the Babs Asper Centre for Cultural Arts.

The 2022 festival is slated to run from May 14 to June 1, throughout multiple in-person venues as well as virtually. Attendees will have a chance to enjoy over 20 award-winning films, talkbacks, visiting directors, and receptions.

“The annual Winnipeg International Jewish Film Festival is the perfect opportunity for everyone to enjoy an array of features and documentaries that speak to the diversity of the Jewish experience,” said Laura Marjovsky, Rady JCC Manager of Programming. “We are thrilled to be able to gather safely in person once again.”

The majority of in-person films will be screened at the Berney Theatre located at the Asper Jewish Community Campus (AJCC) at 123 Doncaster Street. The AJCC is a fully vaccinated facility (proof of vaccination will be required), and a mandatory mask policy is currently in effect.

The WIJFF will also feature the return of the very popular Shorts on Sherbrook Film Crawl throughout various venues on Sherbrook Street as well as a drive-in movie night in the AJCC parking lot.

The virtual format will allow viewers to enjoy their favourite movies in the comfort of their homes during a 48-hour window from the time of its in-person premieres.

“Last year, we had to pivot to a virtual festival due to the pandemic,” said Marjovsky. “By doing so, we learned that many people enjoyed having the flexibility to watch at times that worked for them. We want to offer this option again this year.”

To view the entire lineup, watch film trailers, and purchase tickets, visit www.radyjcc.com.

“Whether you are planning to attend in-person or watch from home, there is definitely something here for you that will make you laugh, cry, and feel inspired.”
